Real-time metrics: views and interactions in progress

The Views · last 30 minutes card of the Event dashboard shows the event page openings in the last 30 minutes, in the last 5 and in the last minute, a 30-bar chart and the Ongoing interactions, refreshed automatically every 10 seconds. Permissions, the Live, Connecting…, Paused and Update unavailable states, and why the Promoter does not see it.

The Views · last 30 minutes card tells you what is happening right now around your event: how many times the event page was opened in the last 30 minutes, minute by minute, and how many booking flows are open at this moment. It refreshes by itself every 10 seconds, without reloading the page: it is useful when you open a new release, send a newsletter or publish a social story and want to see the effect immediately.

At a glance

  • Where: Event dashboard, last card of the metrics grid, after Conversion Views. It is not in the Statistics tab, in the read-only shared report or in the Nightify Business app.
  • Permissions: View event views to see the card; the Ongoing interactions row also requires View event analytics. Among the predefined roles the full card belongs to the Administrator. The Promoter never sees it, even if their role includes these permissions.
  • What you get: three view counters (30 minutes, 5 minutes, last minute), a 30-bar chart, the number of ongoing interactions and the connection status.
  • Refresh: every 10 seconds, as long as the browser tab stays in the foreground.

Before you start

  • The event must have at least one approved version: before the first approval the dashboard shows no metric cards.
  • The browser must have JavaScript enabled, otherwise instead of the numbers you read Enable JavaScript to view real-time metrics.
  • A view is an opening of the page, not a connected person. The card’s information icon says so: Event page openings on web and apps. Recent visits do not indicate people still online.

Step by step

  1. Open the Event dashboard from the event list. What you see: at the bottom of the metrics grid the card with a dash instead of the number, the caption Views · last 30 minutes, the Connecting… status pill and at the bottom Updates every 10 seconds.
  2. Wait for the first refresh. Result: the pill turns into Live, the counters fill in and the bottom line becomes Updated at followed by the time with seconds.
  3. Read the counters. The big number is Views · last 30 minutes; below it you find Last 5 minutes, Last minute and, if your role allows it, Ongoing interactions. What you see: when a value changes compared with the previous refresh it is highlighted for a moment.
  4. Read the chart. There are 30 bars, one per minute, from −30 min to Now; the last five are highlighted and correspond to Last 5 minutes. Hover over a bar. What you see: the start time of the minute and the number of openings, for example 21:42: 12 Event views.
  5. Leave the page open. Result: every 10 seconds the numbers refresh by themselves. If you switch to another tab the pill becomes Paused; when you come back the card refreshes immediately and resumes.

What happens next

  • Only this card refreshes by itself: the other cards, the sales status strip and the dashboard tables stay as they were when the page loaded. Reload the page to update them.
  • For a few seconds Nightify reuses the same calculation: several team members looking at the same dashboard at the same moment see the same numbers.
  • The card is read-only: it changes nothing and contacts no one.

Special cases

  • Promoter: views cannot be attributed to a channel, so the card never appears, just like the Event views card.
  • Role with View event views but without View event analytics: the card appears without the Ongoing interactions row.
  • Entries only and other roles without View event views: no card.
  • Nightify Business app: the card does not exist in the app; to follow it use the dashboard on the website.
  • Spike in the last minute after a campaign: to understand where the views come from, open the View report and look at the Referrer column.
  • Many ongoing interactions and few reservations: after 2 minutes without activity a flow becomes Abandoned in the Conversion report, where you can see channel, platform and cart total.

Rules and limits

  • The window is fixed at 30 minutes and keeps no history: for longer periods use Views trend or the View report.
  • Views are neither unique users nor people still online.
  • The 2-minute threshold of Ongoing interactions is calculated on the last update of the cart, with the server clock.
