Step-by-step guideOn-Site Ticketing

Setting up the workstation and the Zebra printer

How to prepare the desk computer: install Zebra Browser Print, connect the printer over USB or Ethernet, authorize the website, allow access to local devices in Chrome or Edge, choose the printer and the 10 × 5 cm, 10 × 10 cm or 10 × 15 cm format and understand when the printer is ready.

On-Site Ticketing does not install anything on your computer: the page talks to the printer through Zebra Browser Print, Zebra’s official program that keeps running on the workstation. Once set up, the workstation is recognized every time the page opens and the printer is checked automatically before every ticket.

At a glance

  • Where: the event’s On-Site Ticketing tab, Ticket printing section, Workstation setup panel.
  • Access required: the same permissions as On-Site Ticketing (View events, Manage event reservations, Manage ticketing) and, on the computer, the rights to install programs.
  • What you get: the Printer verified and ready badge, which enables selling and printing.

Before you start

  • A Windows or macOS computer: Zebra Browser Print is available for these two systems.
  • Chrome or Edge. Safari may not work (see Special cases).
  • The printer: the page’s instructions refer to the Zebra ZD421t. The printhead must have a resolution of 6, 8, 12 or 24 dots per millimetre (152, 203, 300 or 600 dpi).
  • A roll of 10 × 5 cm, 10 × 10 cm or 10 × 15 cm labels and a ribbon loaded.

Step by step

  1. Open the Workstation setup panel. It is at the bottom of the Ticket printing section, with the summary Open to install, connect, and authorize the printer. What you see: five numbered steps and the Download Zebra Browser Print button. The panel opens by itself when the printer is not ready.
  2. Install Zebra Browser Print. Press Download Zebra Browser Print: Zebra’s official download page opens. Install the program and start it (Install and start Zebra Browser Print for Windows or macOS.).
  3. Connect the printer. Connect the ZD421t over USB or add its IP address on the Ethernet network. A network printer has to be added inside Zebra Browser Print.
  4. Authorize the website in Browser Print. On the first connection Browser Print asks whether to accept the website: accept the address the page shows in the step Allow … when Browser Print asks you to accept the website.
  5. Allow access to local devices. In Chrome or Edge, when the browser asks to access local apps and devices for the website, choose to allow. Without this consent the page cannot reach Browser Print.
  6. Press Refresh printers. What you see: the Checking Zebra Browser Print… badge with Looking for the local service and available printers., then Testing communication… while the page queries the printer.
  7. Choose the printer. In the Available printer menu each entry shows the name and the connection; Browser Print’s default printer is marked (default) and is selected first. Result: every time you change it the printer is checked again.
  8. Choose the format. When the printer is verified, Ticket format appears with 10 × 5 cm (default), 10 × 10 cm and 10 × 15 cm. Confirmation: the Printer verified and ready badge.

What happens next

  • Every time the page opens the check starts again by itself; if the printer is ready you do not have to do anything else.
  • The page checks the printer before every ticket.
  • The printer operations are recorded in the browser and sent to Nightify, which keeps them as print logs.

Special cases

  • Safari: the page suggests opening https://127.0.0.1:9101/ssl_support and accepting Browser Print’s local certificate, until «SSL Certificate Has been accepted» appears. Recent versions of Safari still reject that certificate in the page’s requests: if Browser Print stays unreachable, use Chrome or Edge.
  • Browser that blocks site storage: the page cannot keep the logs and blocks printing. Enable storage for the website (for example by leaving private browsing).

Rules and limits

  • Each printer response has a maximum wait of 12 seconds. The message that appears when it runs out depends on the moment: incomplete response during the check, status not reported, uncertain send during printing, service unreachable during the printer search.
  • The page does not adjust the printer: calibration, media type and settings are managed on the printer or with Zebra’s tools.
