The event page can speak the visitor’s language: anyone browsing nightify.me in English sees the title, the summary and the frequently asked questions in English if you have entered them, otherwise they see the texts in the original language. Translations are written in the same event editor, field by field, and go online after verification like any other change. Nightify does not translate the organizer’s texts automatically.
At a glance
- Where: event editor → Event page step → Event title, Summary and Frequently asked questions blocks, each with its own language selector (accessible label Change language).
- Languages: Italiano, English, Español, Français, Deutsch.
- Permissions: the same ones as editing the event (Administrator role).
- What you get: an event page that shows your texts in the website language chosen by the visitor, falling back automatically to the original language where the translation is missing.
Before you start
- Title and summary are mandatory in at least one language; all the other languages are optional.
- Prepare the texts already translated: every FAQ question and answer accepts at most 300 characters.
- If the event is already published, the translations go into the draft of the changes and have to be sent with Publish changes.
Step by step on the website
- Open the editor. From Live events (or from the drafts) Options → Edit: you are in the Event page step.
- In the Event title block open the language selector. Next to the block title there is a button with the name of the current language (for example Italiano) and an arrow. What you see: the menu with Italiano, English, Español, Français, Deutsch. The editor opens on the language that already contains a text.
- Choose the language to translate. The field changes: for the main language you see the help text Choose a clear, descriptive title that tells people what your event is about. with the placeholder Event title *; for the other languages the help text Choose a clear, descriptive title in English. (with the name of the language) and the placeholder Event title (English). Write the translated title.
- Repeat in the Summary block. Same selector; for the secondary languages the help text is Describe your event in English. Attendees will see it at the top of the event page.
- Translate the frequently asked questions. Every row of the Frequently asked questions section has its own selector: choose the language and fill in Question * and Answer * (at most 300 characters each). A FAQ that has not been translated is shown in the original language.
- Save. Press Save and continue. Confirmation: the status at the top switches to Saved. If the event is already published, go to the Publish step and press Publish changes; for a new draft carry on normally up to Publish event.
Fields and options
| Element | What it does | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Language selector of the block | Shows the field of the chosen language; the others stay saved even while they are hidden. | Every block has its own selector: you can translate the title without translating the summary. |
| Field of the main language | Base text of the event, mandatory. | It is the language that visitors fall back on when there is no translation. |
| Fields of the other languages | Optional translations of the title, summary, question and answer. | Leave them empty to use the original text. |
| Field with a locked background and a message | It means that the Nightify review has set a replacement text. | See Messages and errors. |
What happens next
- On the website the event page shows the texts in the visitor’s browsing language (flag menu, addresses with the prefix /en, /es, /fr, /de); in the apps, in the language of the phone.
- Where a translation is missing, the text of the main language appears, with no warnings.
- Translations follow the event: Duplicate copies them into the new draft and the Nightify verification examines them together with the rest of the content.
Messages and errors
| Message | Why it appears | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| This field is locked because a title override was set. Remove the override to edit it. | The Nightify review has replaced the title with a text of its own (even for a single language). | You cannot remove the override from the console: write to support stating the text you want. |
| This field is locked because a description override was set. Remove the override to edit it. | As above, for the summary. | As above. |
| Error on the title or on the summary when saving | No language contains the mandatory text. | Fill in at least the main language. |
| Error on the FAQ | Question or answer empty, or longer than 300 characters. | Fill in both fields in the chosen language and shorten the text. |
Special cases
- Event in another main language: you can write the base text in English and add Italian as a translation; the editor opens the first language that contains a value.
- Partial translation: it is normal for a page in English to show the translated title and the FAQs in Italian: translate the FAQs too, to avoid the mix.
- Access titles: the name and description of the access titles have their own translations in the Add tickets step (see Create an access title).
Rules and limits
- Five languages; no automatic translation of the organizer’s texts.
- Changes to the translations of a published event go through verification like any other change.
- The SEO texts (title and description for search engines) are handled by the Nightify review, not by the organizer’s editor.
