You can only delete an event while it is a draft. For events already approved, deletion only concerns draft changes (the snapshot): the public version and reservations are not affected. The operation is definitive.
At a glance
- Where: event dashboard (event list → Options menu → View) → status card → Delete draft or Delete draft snapshot button. The entry does not exist in the Options menu of the organizer console.
- Permissions: Manage events.
- When: Status Draft, Draft Changes, or Rejected Changes. An event In verification must first be reported in draft with Cancel verification and return to draft.
Delete an unpublished draft, step by step
- Open the dashboard. From the list of live events, press the three dots Options and choose View. What you see: the status card with the Draft event banner and the Continue editing draft, Publish event and Delete draft buttons.
- Delete. Press Delete draft and confirm Are you sure you want to delete this draft? The operation cannot be undone.
- Read the result. Confirm: Draft successfully deleted.; the event no longer appears in the lists.
Delete changes from a published event, step by step
- Open the dashboard of the event with the banner Draft under modification (status Approved - Changes in draft) or Changes rejected. The Clear Draft Snapshot button is only available if the most recent snapshot is still in draft.
- Delete. Press Delete draft snapshot and confirm Are you sure you want to delete the draft snapshot? The operation cannot be undone.
- Read the outcome. Confirmation: Draft snapshot successfully deleted. The approved version remains, online as before, and its reservations; the operation is recorded in the Change history.
Fields and options
| Button | When it appears | What it deletes |
|---|---|---|
| Delete draft | Event never approved in Draft status. | The entire event with its draft. |
| Delete draft snapshot | Event approved with changes in draft or rejected, if the most recent snapshot is in draft. | Only unsubmitted changes; the online version remains. |
| Cancel the verification and return to the draft | Event or changes In verification. | Nothing: returns the snapshot to the draft (Verification cancelled. The event is back in the draft.) so that it can then be deleted. |
Messages and errors
| Message | Why it appears | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Only drafts can be deleted. | The event is approved without changes in the draft, or is being verified. | To hide it, use Suspend publication; for an ongoing verification first use Cancel verification and return to draft. |
| There is no draft snapshot to clear. | There are no pending changes, or someone edited or pushed the snapshot after you opened the dashboard. | Reload the dashboard and check the status. |
| Failed to delete draft. / Failed to delete draft snapshot. | Deletion failed due to a temporary error. | Please try again; if it persists, contact support. |
| Your user does not have access to this resource. | Your role does not have Manage events. | Ask an Administrator. |
Special cases
- You want to keep a baseline. Before deleting, use Duplicate on a similar event: the deleted draft is not recovered.
- The button does not appear. The status does not allow it (for example In review) or the most recent snapshot is no longer in draft: reload the dashboard.
- Approved event to be removed completely. It cannot be deleted from the console: use Suspend publication to hide it and contact Nightify support for cancellation with possible refund management.
Rules and limits
- Deletion is permanent and always requires confirmation.
- It is only deleted from the event dashboard; the Options list menu does not have a delete entry.
- Deleting the snapshot verifies that the version is still the one shown: if it has changed, the action is rejected.
