Selling a whole table or individual seats

Every table on the seat map has the Table booking setting: Whole table (all seats), the default, or Individual seats. How to set it in the editor, how the fan books on the website and in the apps, price, the title’s minimum and maximum quantity, the per-event limit, the summary line and what happens to existing tables.

A reserved table on the seat map can be sold in two ways: as a whole, with all its seats in a single selection, or seat by seat, like a small numbered section. The Table booking setting in the table’s card decides; here you find what the fan sees and which quantities the access title needs.

At a glance

  • Where: editor Edit seating map → Tables group of the sidebar → table card (Reserved table) → Table booking select.
  • Permissions: Manage ticketing.
  • The two options: Whole table (all seats), the default, and Individual seats.
  • What you get: with the whole table every reservation includes all the seats and costs the title’s price multiplied by the number of seats; with individual seats the fan decides how many seats of the table to buy.
  • Website and apps: the Nightify apps for iPhone and Android open the same web map and quantities are checked by the server: the behaviour is identical.

Before you start

  • The map must be assigned to the event and the table already drawn with its final number of Seats (up to 50).
  • Link at least one access title to the table, from the card (Assign rate) or from the title (Map element). The title’s price is the price of a single seat.
  • The event must not have reservations: with registered reservations the editor is read-only and the setting can no longer be changed.

Step by step

  1. Open the editor. In the Add tickets step press Edit map, or use the Edit seat map step in the sidebar. What you see: the map and, in the sidebar, the cards grouped into Areas, Tables and Sections.
  2. Open the table card. Select it on the map or in the Tables group. What you see: Seats, Table booking, Shape, Seat order and the rates.
  3. Choose the mode. In Table booking select Whole table (all seats) or Individual seats. Result: the choice is saved straight away in the event draft; while it saves, the select stays disabled for a moment.
  4. Check the title’s quantities (whole table only). Open the linked title with View and check that Max quantity per booking is at least equal to the table’s seats and that Min quantity per booking does not exceed them. Example: for an 8-seat table set the maximum to at least 8. The system does not adjust these values by itself.
  5. Save and publish. Press Save and continue and, for an event already online, Publish changes.

Fields and options

FieldWhat it meansRules
Whole table (all seats)The table is an indivisible unit. On the map the fan taps the table or any of its seats and selects (or deselects) all the seats together, with no intermediate window. With Best place the + button adds the whole table and any reduction empties it.Default value. The quantity is always all the seats or zero: there is no partial selection.
Individual seatsTapping the table the fan filters the map on its rate and then chooses the seats one at a time, as in a numbered section; if the table has more than one rate, the rate choice opens. The title’s usual minimum and maximum per reservation apply.

What happens next

  • In the selection summary a whole table takes a single line with the table name, the seat range and the title name; with individual seats each seat has its own line.
  • The line price is the title’s unit price multiplied by the number of selected seats.
  • The fan does not see a “whole table” label: if you wish, say so in the title name (for example “Table for 8”).

Messages and errors

MessageWhy it appearsWhat to do
The requested quantity exceeds the maximum allowed for this access type. Reduce the quantity or choose other available seats. The fan has selected a whole table with more seats than the title’s Max quantity per booking.Raise the title’s maximum or switch to Individual seats.
Select at least the minimum number of tickets required for this ticket type. The title’s minimum exceeds the seats of the whole table, or with individual seats the fan chose fewer than the minimum.Set the minimum to a value no higher than the seats.
For this event, you can buy up to … tickets with your account.A per-event ticket limit managed by Nightify is active, and the seats of the whole table exceed it.The fan cannot add that table: consider smaller tables or individual seats.

Special cases

  • Tables created before this setting. They stay on Whole table (all seats), the default: nothing changes until you choose Individual seats.
  • Duplicated table. The copy created with Duplicate element keeps seats, shape and mode, but has a new code and no rates.
  • SIAE event. The maximum per reservation cannot exceed 10, so a whole table with more than 10 seats cannot be bought: use Individual seats or smaller tables.

Rules and limits

  • The default value of every table is Whole table (all seats).
  • With the whole table the title’s maximum per reservation must be at least equal to the seats and the minimum cannot exceed them; the per-event ticket limit also counts all the seats of the table.
  • It can only be changed while the event has no reservations and applies to fans after approval.
