Assign, create or remove an event’s seat map

The seat map is meant for events with numbered seats, reserved tables or areas with a controlled capacity: the fan picks the seat on the plan and the system guarantees that each seat is sold only once. The map is born inside the event and stays tied to that event: the Seat map section only shows the assigned map, not a list of maps to reuse.

At a glance

Where: event dashboard → Edit event → Add tickets step → Seat map section. When a structured map is assigned, the sidebar also shows the Edit seat map step, which opens the editor directly.
Permissions: Manage ticketing.
What you get: a map linked to the event, opened in the Edit seating map editor; the Commercial capacity (and, for SIAE events, the SIAE capacity (as per permit)) is calculated from the seats you draw and can no longer be edited by hand.
When it is not needed: for general admission events leave I do not need a seat map. and manage capacity with the access titles.

Before you start

Prepare the layout of the venue: sectors with rows and seats, tables with the number of seats, standing areas with their capacity, position of the stage.
The event must have no reservations: with at least one reservation the map cannot be created, edited or removed.
The event must not be under review and you must have control of the editor (one user at a time).

Step by step

Open the Seat map section. What you see: the description Assign a seat map when the event includes specific areas or seats., the question Do you need a seat map for this event? and two options: I do not need a seat map. (preselected when the event has no structured map) and Use this button if your event requires a seat map (show your attendees the layout of available seats and sections).
Choose the option with a map. What you see: the panel opens with the heading Select a seat map, the message Loading maps… and then, if the event does not have a map yet, There are no maps available for this organization yet. Below you find the note Select a map used previously or create a new map for this event. and the Create new map button. The list can contain at most the map already assigned to this event: there are no maps from other events to pick.
Create the map. Press Create new map. What you see: Creating map…, then New map created and assigned to the event. and immediately afterwards the Edit seating map editor opens with the empty map and the guided tour. Draw the stage, the sectors, the tables and the areas and assign the rates (see the articles about the editor); the operation is recorded in the Change history as map_create.
Go back to the step. In the editor press Save and continue: you return to Add tickets. What you see: the heading of the panel has become Seat map assigned to the event and shows a card with the drawn preview of the map, the name of the event as its title (or Untitled map when the event title is empty) and the line Last used: with the date of the last save; under the card the Edit map and Remove assignment buttons. Tapping the card opens the editor, exactly like Edit map.
Link the access titles. In each access title choose the Map element, or assign the rates from the editor: without that link publication stops with You enabled seat map usage but did not choose a sector for the "…" rate.
Check the capacity and save. In the Event capacity section the fields are locked with the note When an assigned seat map is present, capacity is calculated automatically from the seats drawn on the map. Press Save and continue.

Removing the map, step by step

In the Seat map section press Remove assignment. What you see: Removing map… and then The map was removed from the event.
The event goes back to having no map: capacity becomes manual again and the access titles lose their link to the elements. The detached map does not appear in any list you could reassign it from: if you need it again you have to create a new one with Create new map.
To stop using the map without removing it, select I do not need a seat map. again: the option with a map and the assignment stay available if you change your mind.

Fields and options

What happens next

With a structured map (sectors, tables or more than one area) the Commercial capacity is the sum of the seats of the sectors, the seats of the tables and the capacities of the areas; Unlimited capacity is disabled and, for SIAE events, the SIAE capacity (as per permit) is forced to the same value.
On the booking screen the fan chooses between Best place (Choose the price, we will pick the best available seat.) and Map selection (Choose your preferred available seats on the map.); for general admission areas they only enter the quantity in the Your selection window.
For an event that is already online the map, like the whole step, becomes effective with Publish changes and approval.

Messages and errors

You cannot modify or remove the seat map because the event already has reservations.	There is at least one reservation on the event.	The layout cannot be changed any more: for a different venue create a new event.

You indicated you will use a seat map for this event but no seat map has been selected. (Select seat map button)	At publication: you chose the option with a map without creating one.	Create the map or go back to I do not need a seat map.

Special cases

Map with a single general admission area. If the map contains a single area with seat order Posto unico (UN) (general admission) and no sector or table, it is not considered structured: the side step Edit seat map does not appear, capacity stays the one entered by hand and the Map element field of the access titles is hidden, because the link to the area is automatic.
You want the same layout on another event. There is no feature to reuse a map: in the new event create a new map and draw it again. Duplicating the event with Duplicate gives you a draft to start from.
Cancelled reservations. The block is triggered by the presence of reservations recorded on the event, so reservations that are no longer active can keep it in place too: if you have to change the venue, contact support.

Rules and limits

A map belongs to a single event; assigning it to another event is not available.
Capacity is derived from the map only when the map is structured; a finite capacity on its own does not force you to use a map.
Every element that sells seats must have a 2-character seat order code; the system generates them automatically from the chosen typology.
