Set your public nickname

The nickname is the address of your public profile. Composition rules, lowercase saving, reserved names, where to set it, what happens to old links and every message.

The nickname identifies your public profile: the address becomes nightify.me/member/nickname and it is the name other users find and follow you with. When you sign up you receive one generated from the first part of your e-mail (lowercase letters and numbers only, with a number added if it is already taken): you can replace it whenever you want.

Step by step on the website

  1. Open the settings. From My account choose Settings and privacy. What you see: the description Manage the public nickname for your Nightify profile. and the Your account section (Public nickname and profile identifier.) with the Current nickname line, where the value is preceded by @ (Not set if empty).
  2. Type the nickname. In the Nickname field (placeholder your-nickname) type the new value; below it you find the rule Use 3 to 50 characters: letters, numbers, dot, hyphen or underscore.
  3. Save. Press Save changes. Confirmation: Settings updated successfully. and the Current nickname line shows the new name.

Step by step in the app

  1. Open ProfileSettings and privacy. What you see: the Your account section with the Nickname field and the help text You can change it at most 2 times every 15 days.
  2. In the current version of the app the field and the Save changes button stay disabled and Nickname change history is not active yet. Apply the DB migration before using this feature. appears: to change your nickname use the website.

Special cases

  • You type capital letters or a leading @. They are removed: @Mario.Rossi becomes mario.rossi.
  • Reserved names. Words such as admin, account, events, login, nightify, support and the like are not available: This nickname is reserved and cannot be used. appears.
  • Changing your nickname changes your profile address. A link with the old nickname shows a page not found: update the ones you published on social media.
  • The nickname does not change first name and last name on tickets and in reservations.
