From the album Green Twins (2017) and Will This Make Me Good (2020) to the most recent opera I Can See, Hakim continues to seek truth in every note and word he writes and sings. However, his truth is more abstract and inseparable than realistic — closer to Borges than to George Washington. There is a cosmic certainty that permeates I Can See: the conviction that the good in the universe exists for a reason.
