El Sótano presents its line-up for Pride: the label, home and dream of Helena Gallardo is called Silent Signal, a statement of intent that deserves an explanation. Helena can be direct and visceral in her sessions, charged with an unexpected force that contrasts with her sweet and elegant presence. She masters the most forceful echoes of Detroit and Birmingham techno, but inside her beats a darkness inherited from the eighties, inspired by references such as Bauhaus and Joy Division. The unsettling atmospheres of Goblin, the disturbing soundscapes of LFO and the experimentation of Aphex Twin or Autechre also resonate in her universe. However, this description barely begins to define her. Influenced by multiple musical currents, Helena has always preferred the subtlest connection, spiritual communion and the magic of silent signals. Born in Madrid, Helena Gallardo understands music as a parallel universe where those who are no longer here remain and where the invisible monsters of our civilization dwell. Her language is more intuitive than rational; her symbols must be deciphered through sensitivity rather than logic.
