Nils Petter Molvær: The Norwegian trumpeter, composer and producer combines jazz, ambient, house, electronics and breakbeats as well as elements from hip-hop, rock and pop – and forms from these unique and dramatic soundscapes of deep intensity. As one of the first, he combined modern jazz improvisation with the dancefloor and electronic elements and transported Asian vibrations into a dense web of polyrhythm and meditative soundscapes. Thus arose enchanting, genre-spanning sounds that in this form and intensity had never been heard before and which to this day exert an addictive effect and are best experienced live, as soon as the opportunity arises.
