Information
This summer, Jumbi welcomes the first edition of SUNBEAT as part of our Daytime Dance. SUNBEAT is a new event series dedicated to the sounds, stories and traditions of African music. Rooted in a deep appreciation for the music itself, SUNBEAT creates space to explore the richness and diversity of African musical heritage through listening, dancing and collective experience. From timeless recordings to contemporary interpretations, the series celebrates the rhythms, melodies and cultural exchanges that continue to shape music across the globe. Launching in the heart of Peckham, a place long connected to African and diasporic communities, SUNBEAT feels both timely and necessary. A gathering that honours tradition while bringing people together through a shared love of music. Running from 3pm through to 9pm, the session invites dancers, listeners and the curious alike to spend an afternoon immersed in sound, community and discovery. Limited capacity. Advance recommended. Tell your people, and come dance.
