DREW McDOWALL + PEDRO MAIA CAVEA / FRICTIONS — 05.06.2026 An evening that moves on the edge between ritual and matter. Drew McDowall — cardinal figure of Coil and Psychic TV, today among the most radical voices of contemporary experimental electronics — brings to Cavea a modular set in constant mutation: harmonics that crumble, drone that becomes architecture, frequencies that traverse the body before even the ear. It is music that is not only listened to, it is inhabited. Accompanying him, Portuguese visual artist Pedro Maia — collaborator of names like Atom TM, Kangding Ray and Ben Frost — working live on 16mm film manipulated in real time. Projectors, light, emulsion: images that burn, dissolve and recompose, in close dialogue with the sound. The result is a unique audiovisual entity, physical and hypnotic, built to be experienced in Cavea's space: expanded cinema, ritual sound design, a friction zone between what you see and what you hear. FRICTIONS is Cavea's Friday series dedicated to sound as matter, space as instrument, experience as collision.
