Super! presents Panchiko in an exceptional concert on October 9, 2026 at La Cigale. On July 21, 2016, a /mu/ forum user on 4chan posted a photo of a mysterious CD he had found at a record store in Nottingham, UK: a worn demo titled D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L, allegedly released in 2000 by four musicians: Owain, Andy, Shaun and John. The listener downloaded the recordings - which appeared to have been damaged by disc rot - onto file-sharing sites, then to YouTube, where they began circulating in internet music circles. The appeal of the disc was multifaceted. Was it a genuine 90s curiosity? A prank pulled by internet-savvy teenagers? An experiment in nostalgia on the Internet, in the spirit of vaporwave? Nobody knew. The Panchiko hive therefore mobilized, gathering on subreddits and discord servers, examining every square inch of the packaging in search of potential clues, and even calling the Nottingham record store where D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L had allegedly originally surfaced. "I woke up one day," Owain recounts, "and received a message on one of my old Facebook pages: 'Hello, you probably won't read this, but are you the lead singer of Panchiko?' This question surprised Owain: as far as he and Andy knew, D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L had never been uploaded to the internet. The Panchiko fandom eventually made contact the next day, when it received Owain's reply, a simple "Yeah". The world had finally gotten confirmation that not only were the Panchiko not 14-year-olds, but they were very real, right down to the disc rot. Panchiko is about to embark on its fourth sold-out tour in movie theaters across the United States, and has already accumulated hundreds of millions of streams.
