Super!presents Chinese American Bear in an exceptional concert on September 21, 2026 at POPUP!The Chinese-American duo Anne Tong and Bryce Barsten form Chinese American Bear, an indie pop project born during the confinement.Inspired by the Chinese idea of greeting someone by asking 'have you eaten yet?', they mix music and culinary references to create a warm and nostalgic atmosphere.Their style combines influences as diverse as the Flaming Lips, the Beach Boys or the Bee Gees, with simple words that evoke ravioli, noodles or boba tea.Initially a simple musical collaboration, the project evolved when Barsten discovered that Tong's voice adds a unique dimension to the songs.Born a child in the United States, Tong had a complex relationship with her language and her origins.Now singing in Chinese allows her to celebrate this identity and touch many Asian listeners.Their music mixes personal memories, humor and sweetness.Titles like 'Take Me To Beijing' evoke summer times spent with the family and arouse strong emotions in some listeners.After a first self-produced album in 2022 and Wah!!!in 2024, the duo prepares Dim Sum & Then Some, scheduled for May 2026. On stage, Chinese American Bear offers cheerful and irregular concerts, with mascots and singers, close to a sci-fi pop show.Their goal is simple: to share playful and sincere music, capable of making you smile and dream like a childhood memory.
