Composer, saxophonist, band leader, producer: in each of these roles Steve Coleman is a protagonist of the most creative jazz of the last forty years, and the Five Elements are the main formula with which he developed his artistic path.A path that began in Chicago in the mid-80s with the foundation of the M-Base collective, together with others such as Cassandra Wilson, Geri Allen, Gary Thomas, Greg Osby, and then continued without ever deviating from the serious search for a sound and rhythmic and harmonic solutions that represented the developments of contemporary African-American music, but always from a very original point of view.
