Information
⸻ Lero Lero is a collective of artists that revolves around a precise core: the Sicilian sound archive of the 1900s. A heritage made of voices, songs and rituals that tell an almost disappeared world, brought back to life today with a critical and contemporary gaze. Their work is a gesture of reappropriation and transformation: ancient materials become living sound, returned to the community without nostalgia, but with urgency. Lullabies, work songs, laments and curses re-emerge as fragments of a submerged Atlantis, capable of questioning the present: who are we, where do we come from, what remains when tradition is lost? The dialogue between the founders – Alessio Bondì, Donato Di Trapani and Fabio Rizzo, together with percussionist Giovanni Parrinello – gives shape to an archaic and visionary sound. Mediterranean electronics, microtonal melismas, echoes of zampogne and marranzani intertwine in a hypnotic and layered fabric. Lero Lero rejects every folkloristic approach: it does not idealize the past, but passes through it. It explores the fractures, inhabits the voids and transforms them into creative space. A project that digs into memory to rewrite it, without simplifying it.
