Information
Modena City Ramblers were born in 1991 as an Irish folk group, always lovers of the music and traditions of the Emerald Isle. From there a thirty-year span dotted with successes, both from a discographic and live tour point of view, in Italy and Europe. After the 2020 stop that had forced the band away from their fans, accustomed to about 80 dates a year on stage, in 2021 the group returned to celebrate 30 years of career with the same spirit, with music and with extreme closeness to their audience. From 2022 to 2024 the Modena City Ramblers in addition to Italy with many concerts, touched their live with South Africa, Chile, Spain, Ireland, UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Luxembourg, passing through the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary. In 2025 the Modena City Ramblers will present the new tour "Appunti Resistenti" around the world. On the eightieth anniversary of Italian Liberation and celebrating the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of the historic collective album 'Materiale Resistente' and the twentieth anniversary of the gold record 'Appunti Partigiani', the Modena City Ramblers propose themselves for 2025 in a special tour called 'Appunti Resistenti', a tour that will feature songs that in their over thirty-year career the band has dedicated to the theme of Resistance struggle and the values of Anti-Fascism, as well as four new songs that represent a new chapter of the artistic path inspired by these themes, so tied to the identity of the "Ramblers". The 'greatest hits' that ignite audiences across Italy and beyond will not be missing, but the concert will be more than ever a joyful and convinced musical event of Resistance and Activism, with those songs that, in these times of worrying social and political drift, become every evening the song of a single People who recognizes itself in the Constitution and the founding ideas of our Republic, because experienced in a sort of secular communion of horizons that erases stage and distances. Songs can only be small traces, little more than sound notes of that journey started even before 1945, the year of Liberation, a journey many times begun with broken shoes and the only luggage of a great Ideal, a journey that today continues in Democracy thanks to the sacrifice of many and the struggle of a People. Songs as modest acts of memory, whose artistic value may be debatable, but which belong to culture and tradition, and whose weight has consolidated in a certain militant imagination. Partisan matter, resistant notes.
