ARTISTThe Rat Utopia Experiment

The Rat Utopia Experiment is a girl-fronted “circus” rock band from Washington state. The lineup features Phia on vocals, Francis on bass, Maddox on lead guitar, Drix on rhythm guitar, and Christian on drums. Since 2022, the group has mostly played around its hometown; after graduating from school, it began venturing beyond its home area and developed a large underground following.

The band describes its interests as theatrical performances, intricate lyrics, and intense riffs. Its approach brings together political messaging and emotional storytelling in a stage presence characterized as high-energy and dominating. The group cites bands from the 1960s, riot grrl, noise rock, and trip hop among its inspirations. In March and April 2027, it is scheduled to support Destroy Boys on their “FOIE GRAS” album release tour.
