ARTISTStef Chura

Stef Chura is based in Detroit. A couple of years after the release of her debut album, Messes, she released Midnight, her collection of songs for the Saddle Creek label. Recorded and produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest, the album features twelve tracks and is described as a step forward from her earlier work.

Midnight grew from a collaborative process and reflects Stef Chura’s tenacity and perseverance. In discussing her artistic search, she suggests that people who create art may carry a deep, unanswerable question about why they make it. For Midnight, Chura drew inspiration primarily from the people around her, rather than from the city where she lived.
