ARTISTPlastic Tree

Plastic Tree was formed in December 1993 by Ryutaro Arimura and Tadashi Hasegawa. Through an active schedule of live performances, the group gradually built a fanbase and made its major-label debut in June 1997 with the single “Wareta Mado.” Its distinctive artistic world drew attention, and its music ranges from aggressive guitar-driven rock to more melodic, pop-oriented sounds.

The group’s aesthetic also found an audience beyond Japan, and Plastic Tree undertook a world tour in July 2006. In September 2007, it marked the tenth anniversary of its major-label debut with a successful performance at Nippon Budokan. The band returned to the venue for a second performance on August 30, 2009, which was also met with great success. Plastic Tree is described as a pioneering rock band in the neo-visual scene.
