ARTISTPinty
Pinty rose to prominence as part of the same South London crew as King Krule and Jamie Isaac, and has more recently worked with Metronomy and Emma-Jean Thackray. His agile verses and inventive wordplay are central to his writing. As a lyricist, he is influenced by MCs such as Skibadee and storytellers such as Willie Nelson. A versatile rapper, Pinty works across sounds ranging from jazz-tinged house to hip-hop and drum & bass.
After building a reputation through residencies on radio stations including Balamii and Reprezent, he released his first EP, City Limits, on Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section imprint. Two further EPs, Midnight Moods and Tomorrow’s Where I’m At, followed on Winged Feet and attracted attention from radio, music press and tastemakers. His single Comfort Me was selected by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac as her Tune of the Week.
In 2022, Pinty released the mixtape Pinty's House, featuring collaborators including King Krule, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Catching Cairo. Stuck Like Glue, produced by George Fitzgerald, was included on the BBC Radio 1 Introducing playlist. The mixtape brings together guest vocalists and a different producer on each track, creating a varied selection of sounds and styles.
