ARTISTKevin Devine
Kevin Devine emerged from New York’s indie rock and emo scenes in the early 2000s. He first fronted Miracle of 86, then pursued solo work, releasing Circle Gets the Square in 2002 and Make the Clocks Move in 2003. After the band broke up, he released Split the Country, Split the Street in 2005. In 2006 he signed with Capitol Records and made Put Your Ghost to Rest with producer Rob Schnapf; the album was reissued by Junketboy in 2008. His 2009 release was Brother's Blood.
In 2010, Devine formed Bad Books with members of Manchester Orchestra. The project released three albums over the following decade: Bad Books, Bad Books II, and Bad Books III, issued in June 2019 with Andy Hull and Robert McDowell. Later solo releases include Between the Concrete and Clouds (2011), Bulldozer (2013), produced by Schnapf, and Instigator (2016). From 2015 to 2016, he released the six-part Devinyl Splits series, collaborating with artists including Matthew Caws, Meredith Graves, and Cymbals Eat Guitars. He also released Bubblegum, made with the Goddamn Band, and an acoustic version of Instigator titled We Are Who We've Always Been.
