ARTISTflumpool
flumpool formed in 2002 when childhood friends Ryuuta Yamamura and Kazuki Sakai, both guitarists, joined Genki Amakawa, an acquaintance who played bass. The trio performed in clubs under the name Cube. After several years on the Osaka club circuit, drummer Seiji Ogura joined in 2007, making the group a quartet. They adopted the name flumpool and began recording that same year.
The group gained early recognition with the singles Iabo and Hana Ni Nare. In late 2008, flumpool released its first album, Unreal, a mini-album. It reached number two on the album charts and placed the group in Oricon’s Top Ten with its debut. The source characterizes their sound as combining shiny pop with ballad-focused adult contemporary music.
