ARTISTDashboard Confessional
Dashboard Confessional is the project of singer-songwriter Christopher Carrabba, formed in Boca Raton, Florida, where he had lived since age 16. After playing with the Vacant Andys and the Agency and joining Further Seems Forever, Carrabba started Dashboard Confessional as a side project, centering it on acoustic songs and personal lyrics. The debut album, Swiss Army Romance, appeared in 2000; the project’s name comes from a line in “The Sharp Hint of New Tears.” The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most followed in 2001, marking a shift toward a band sound on several tracks. That year also brought the EP The Drowning and, in December, So Impossible, made with Dan Hoerner. In 2002, Summers Kiss was released, and Carrabba recorded MTV Unplugged 2.0.
The permanent lineup in 2003 included Scott Schoenbeck, Johnny Lefler, and Mike Marsh. A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar topped the Billboard charts and included “Hands Down”; in 2004, the group contributed “Vindicated” to the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. Further albums were Dusk and Summer (2006), The Shade of Poison Trees (2007), and Alter the Ending (2009). After an extended hiatus, Carrabba returned with the Covered and Taped EP (2017) and the album Crooked Shadows (2018). The compilation The Best Ones of the Best Ones followed in 2020. After a serious motorcycle accident in 2020, he resumed Dashboard Confessional activities in 2021, and All the Truth That I Can Tell was released in 2022.
