ARTISTCHVRCHES

CHVRCHES is a trio comprising Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty, whose music brings together prominent synthesizers and memorable melodies, combining indie roots with pop. Cook and Doherty met in 2003 while studying at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and later worked together in Aereogramme. In 2011, they invited Mayberry to sing on some demos and formed the group, using a “v” in CHVRCHES to distinguish the name in internet searches. They posted “Lies” online in 2012, followed by the single “The Mother We Share” that November.

The trio’s debut album, The Bones of What You Believe, was released in 2013, followed by Every Open Eye in 2015 and Love Is Dead in 2018. The latter includes “Get Out” and “My Enemy,” featuring Matt Berninger. Screen Violence arrived in 2021 and includes a collaboration with Robert Smith. In 2023, the group released “Over”; in 2026, it returned with a cover of “Addicted to Love” and the single “Roses”.
