ARTISTC.C. Catch
C.C. Catch was born Caroline Catharina Müller in the Netherlands and moved to Germany with her family in the late 1970s. In 1980, she joined the girl quartet Optimal, which released two singles. At one of the group’s concerts in Hamburg, she met songwriter and producer Dieter Bohlen. After signing with him, she adopted the stage name C.C. Catch and released her debut single, “I Can Lose My Heart Tonight,” in the summer of 1985.
Her collaboration with Bohlen lasted until 1989 and resulted in four albums and twelve singles. Wanting to broaden her repertoire with material of her own, C.C. Catch left Bohlen and Hansa Records after her request was declined; she later won the right to use her stage name in court. Her first album without Bohlen, Hear What I Say, was released at the end of 1989. Produced in London by Andy Taylor, Dave Clayton, and Jo Dworniak, it included seven songs co-written by the artist and achieved moderate success. C.C. Catch subsequently retired from the music business and became interested in meditation. In 1998, she agreed to collaborate on a greatest-hits collection and, according to the biography, began working on a new album.
