Venus Ship is a collective of eight musicians from Bologna, inspired by 1960s and 1970s protest movements and the stories of prominent figures fighting for civil and human rights. Their music reflects this context, incorporating diverse sounds reminiscent of New Orleans, Charles Mingus, and the spirituals of the Liberation Music Orchestra, with influences from blaxploitation cinema.
