An acclaimed program celebrating the magical melodies from the anime films of Hayao Miyazaki, the world-renowned Japanese director and Academy Award winner, comes to Basel.Featuring works inspired by his unique artistic vision, the concert will be presented by Ensemble Sinfonietta Bern in the Paul Sacher Saal at Don Bosco Basel, a modern concert venue renowned for its warm acoustics and intimate listening experience.Hayao Miyazaki's Dreams brings together iconic compositions by the brilliant composer Joe Hisaishi, including music from My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Laputa: Castle in the Sky.The program is further enriched by selected works from other composers who have drawn inspiration from Miyazaki's fantastical visual storytelling.These musical themes transport the audience into the spellbinding world of beloved anime tales inhabited by courageous heroines, mysterious spirits, and characters deeply rooted in Japanese folklore.
