Lucia Joyce, daughter of James Joyce, was a revolutionary dancer and one of the first European interpreters of the performance concept as we understand it today.At twenty-eight, she was sent to a psychiatric institution.From there, she continued to create: paintings, poems, documented choreographies.Everything was destroyed by her family.Only a diary – dreamlike images, broken writing – survives, becoming one of the most brutal testimonies about the state of women in psychiatric institutions in the 1930s.Lucia is the continuation of the short film 'Lucia, my light' directed by Maria Benz.On stage, the interpreter's body follows the live rhythm of her own breathing and heartbeat: a sonic drama that arises from within, where words have been taken away.
