Information
Lucia Joyce, daughter of James Joyce, was a revolutionary dancer and one of the first European interpreters of the performance idea as we understand it today. At twenty-eight, she was interned by her family. In a house where only one artist could fit, from the sanatorium, Lucia continues to create: paintings, poems, documented choreographies.Everything is destroyed by the family. The only thing left is a diary — dreamlike images, broken writing — that becomes one of the most brutal testimonies about the condition of women in psychiatric institutions in the 1930s.Lucia is the continuation of the short film 'Lucia, my light' directed by Maria Benz.On stage, the interpreter's body follows the live rhythm of their own breathing and heartbeat: a sonic drama that arises from within, where words have been taken away.
